What Comes Around Goes Square had its premiere during the TAD week 2024. It is a collaborative work of photographer Viivi Päiväsaari and artist Milla-Maija Saari. The room-like installation and the performance was a pacifist interpretation. The artwork looks in the character’s everyday life and her mental landscape. Milla-Maija Saari operates the space between the bed and the wooden tappingpad with militant strictness, seeking only peace and grace from time and sometimes shocking reality. The room is filled with cyanotype prints reminiscent of Päiväsaari’s home and childhood. The work is inspired by the photographer Gerda Taro, who immortalized the Spanish Civil War, as well as by works about the war, such as Picasso’s Guernica.

The piece was made in collaboration with zMohotila, a clothing industry collective from Tampere. ZMohotila has made Saari’s performance outfit from fabrics worked by Päiväsaari.
