  • Milla-Maija Saari (1995) is an Bachelor of Arts in Design from Tampere, a flamenco dance teacher and a student at the University of the Fine Arts Helsinki.

    Her mediums based on performative installations and illustrations. Her work is guided by strong ecological values, which are visible in her practice and indirectly also in the frameworks. In recent years, she has dealt with themes related to safety and care through childhood memories, small imaginary characters and other species. In her practice, she systematically focuses on creating multidisciplinary pieces by using recycled and experimental materials (combucha leather).

Flamenco

Milla-Maija Saari teaches flamenco at the Tampere Flamenco Association and gives workshops all around Finland. She has studied flamenco dance since she was a 4 years old at the Flamenco Azul school (Sinikka Vainio). She has been spending time in Spain in intensive courses in Seville and Madrid under the teaching of Alicia Marquez, José Maya and David Paniagua, among others.

She is interested in flamenco as part performance art, listening to the body and a gentle approach to movement.
